Shane Garraway
Village CEO & Co-Founder
Growing up in the Caribbean, Shane was captivated by science and engineering, eventually studying mechanical engineering at NYU to help the world work more efficiently. Today, as CEO and founder of The Village Cares, he channels that same passion for innovation and problem-solving into empowering families and communities through accessible, high-quality extracurricular opportunities for every child.
Driven by my experiences as an engineer and father to Nore—my Generation Alpha daughter—I believe we can harness technology, community, and shared resources to reshape the world by prioritizing holistic experiences for every child. Encouraged by simple acts of care (like my daughter’s aunt gifting $100 for her gymnastics class) and supported by Jason—a great friend and co-founder —I created The Village Cares to unite guardians, providers, and supporters in building a brighter future.

Motivated by a passion for using design and technology to create positive impact, Jason co-founded The Village Cares to connect children with opportunities for growth and confidence. From launching Friend of a Friend Studio to reshaping healthcare experiences, Jason’s work reflects his commitment to driving change and empowering communities through thoughtful design.
Community is always evolving, especially as the world becomes more digital. I see this shift as an opportunity to bring our neighborhood’s ‘third places’—safe, nurturing spaces where the next generation can grow—into the digital realm. By leveraging the power of social networks, fundraising, and shared equity, I believe we can foster meaningful community growth while making extracurricular programs accessible for every child.
